I love being able to learn, experiment and increase skills during the winter months. Now more that ever you might be interested in making food with food and stretch those dollars.
If you still aren’t making your own yogurt and sour cream, I dont know why. For yogurt, it is as easy as putting some yogurt in a jar maybe about 1/2 cup and filling your pint jar with milk. To make sour cream you will add about 1/2 cup of sour cream to jar of heavy cream (milk can also be used, but wont be as creamy) then leave both jars on the counter to culture. This is because your sour cream and yogurt are the culture full of good bacteria that will spread through your whole jar and grow inside your milk, making more product.
The sour cream takes about 2 days on the counter where as the yogurt about 24 hours in a warm place. When its done, refrigerate. 🤗. Its that easy!
